Looking for a high speed blender? I remember when I first bought one! I spent quite a bit of time comparing them online. I so wished I could put them side by side in my own kitchen to see how they did. Bendtec had fun videos that showed it would blend ANYTHING! Vitamix seemed to be in so many kitchens! As cool as Blendtec looked my gut told me to trust what the majority of people I knew had on their counter tops. Vitamix it was.
About a month ago Blendtec approached me and asked if I’d like to guest post on their blog. I said yes. I was really excited about the opportunity. It also meant that I was going to get a Blendtec blender. I could finally start the Vitamix vs Blendtec war that the nerdy kitchen person inside of me really wanted to try. It was time for a Blendtec, Vitamix Blendoff!
I tried to think of one of the foods that drives me the most crazy when blending. I don’t know about you but frozen strawberries were a blending headache in my PRE high-powered blender days. I was so happy when I got my vitamix to see that strawberries were no longer a pain to blend. For my blendoff I decided to create a dairy free “cheese-cake” strawberry smoothie. Follow the pictures and be sure to watch the video to see the blenders in action together. Keep reading to hear which blender I suggest is best for the busy mom!
Let the Blendoff Begin…
First of all you can see here how the shapes are different. They hold the same amount of liquid but the Blendtec is shorter and fatter and the Vitamix is taller and skinnier.
Here you can see that when you have the container on the machine the Vitamix is taller, the base is larger as well. The Blendtec is shorter and smaller.
The power behind these two high powered blenders was the same. I did not feel as if one blended better the the other. They were both awesome and got the job done.
As you can see here, the way you blend is different. The Blendtec is digital and the Vitamix is manual. The difference here is the touch of a button. The Blendtec is automatic the Vitamix is a stick. Either blender gets you the results you want it just depends on how you prefer to operate it. I will say that the Blendtec is easier to wipe off. My Vitamix has old dry smoothie behind the dial *eww I know but what do ya do.
I wanted see how powerful the blenders were. I pulled out the one thing that drove me crazy with a regular blender. Frozen strawberries. Seems like those never get blended well in a regular blender. These pretty berries were not a problem for either blender. They both created a perfect smoothie with no chunks of berry.
Both of these will wake your neighbors. There is no sound difference they are both like running a freight train through your kitchen but that’s what you get when you put horse power in the kitchen! Eh eh eh…
I did a “dip” test for you. It’s a bad picture but were the same consistency. You can also vary the consistency for both using the blender controls.
So my thoughts on it are….
I seriously went into this review believing I would love the Vitamix over the Blendtec. I really love my Vitamix! Ask any of my close friends. I am addicted to it. So when I found that I actually preferred the Blendtec over the Vitamix I was a bit shocked! The fact is for a busy Mom, the Blendtec saves time and that is all I care about when it comes to using appliances. I love the one touch feature and I love the fact that you can put it in the dishwasher. I really don’t think that Vitamix was ever intended to be a home appliance. I am pretty sure it was created for big chain restaurants and that’s where it should probably stay until they come out with a kitchen friendly design. Blendtec has some super cool colors and designs that you can get for their sleek base.
So you may be wondering what I am going to do with my Vitamix now that I am so in love with the Blendtec. Well I have to be 100% honest. My Mom is my hero, she helps me everyday with my kids and she is my biggest time saver of all. If it were not for her, well, I just wouldn’t be where I am today… so I gifted her the Blendtec, it was the least I could do for the woman who blends my life together so perfectly. BUT the second I have the extra money for a new high powered blender I will be buying a Blendtec, maybe a tiffany blue colored one…

Dairy Free “Cheesecake” strawberry smoothie:
