The first month that I started my blog I started a series called “The House That Cleans Itself” titled after the book by Mary Starns Clark. I have since labeled the category “Home Organization”. This series is one of the best things I have done in my career as a mom. My house, most days, stays very easy to clean up and tidy. There are a few rooms and areas that I have yet to share. My kids rooms are one of those areas, those rooms have been quite the work in progress. I am excited to say that the rooms are just about finished and I am hoping to start sharing them with you starting Wednesday next week. I know I have many new followers since the start of my organizing series so I thought today would be a good day to start introducing you to the “House That Cleans Itself” idea. Below is the first post I wrote about it. You can see all the posts under the “Home Organization” category. I plan on going through the posts and updating them as time progresses, but for now they are all there in their glory waiting to be re-visited. I hope you all have a fabulous day! Enjoy!
Home Organization…
From: February 4, 2011
Clutter fills our lives. Every nook and cranny in our life can have an accumulation of clutter if we are not careful. Our minds, homes, offices, cars, computers, emotions can all have clutter! I know that clutter is a cause of failure and frustration for me and I need to learn to manage it better.
Do you have a few places in your home that are a bit dark and dirty? I know I do. We moved last year from a condo to our first home while I was in the midst of morning sickness. I was not in any kind of mood for purging or organizing so we just tossed everything in boxes and unpacked them in the right rooms. Although things are tidy and in their respective places the organization is lacking! Now that my baby is four months old I am starting to settle into a groove again, I am ready for my house to work with us, not against us. A friend of mine just recently recommended a great book called “The House That Cleans Itself” by Mindy Starns Clark. I am SO excited about this book. It takes a new approach to how your house can work for you. It can help you regain control of the chaos that wreaks havoc to the flow and organization of our homes.
In the Home Organization category I will talk about the steps, that “The House That Cleans Itself” recommends, and get my house working properly again. I will document it and post pictures so you can see my progress. I would LOVE it if you would do the same. Take pictures and document your information on a file on your computer and after I am done with my house we will go through yours! Before my house is finished I will start asking on the Facebook page, for people who are interested in posting their HTCI pics and stories! I hope you enjoy your organizing journey. Lets do it together and get homes that not only clean themselves but become oasis’ for our families and us!
