Garlic: The Clove Is Not The Enemy…

Do you like garlic? Do you love the flavor but HATE the flatulence you get from it? Yes I am talking about “garlic butt” today! Go ahead laugh! I will be the first to say that when I eat garlic my gut churns for the following 24 hours after I eat it and the gas is so frustrating! The gas problem has made me fear garlic yet now I do not have too!

One day as I was “meandering” online doing a little health research, I ran across a video of a gal saying that if you cut the sprout or germ out of the garlic that you would no longer have gastrointestinal upset! I was a bit skeptic but thought I’d give it a try since I adore garlic so much! You know what?! It works!! It works oh so well! I do not fear garlic anymore! In fact one day I forgot to take the germ out and what do you know? The next day Mike and I were complaining about “garlic butt”! I thought about it and realized that it has been forever since we have dealt with it because I have made it a habit to take the germ out! It only takes a few extra seconds to give you a toot free garlic experience! This has been such an amazing, tiny, change for us that I just HAD to share it! So here is a picture tutorial. Enjoy!

The garlic bulb…

Take a clove (one piece of the garlic) take the peel off.

I like this handy gadget to peel the bulb!

chop the ends off…

Slice the clove in half…

See the green part? That is the sprout or germ of the garlic…

Pull the germ out…

Garlic clove and garlic germ, no longer one!

Take germ out of both sides, discard germ.

The clove is ready to use in whatever way you wish!
