Today I am showing you the amateur way to sprout! The sprouting process is so easy! Here is how I sprout, if I can do this you can too! Sprouts are amazing little power houses! Easier then a full fledged garden especially in the winter, these little guys will give you all kinds of nutrients! Check out this video from the Renegade Health Show too, it is a great video on sprouting! Have fun!
Start with your sprout seeds I get mine from Azure Standard
(you can also find seed, sprouting products and more info at Sprout People).
Drop 2 Tbsp seeds into a one quart glass canning jar…
Add water…
Put a sprouting screen on the jar and soak 6-8 hours out of light in a room temp room or cupboard (I do that over night)…
Pour the water out, turn the jar around on its side to spread the seed around, set jar on counter out of direct sunlight…
After a day or two you will see little sprouts coming out of the seeds…
Rinse 2-3 times a day, turn jar to spread seeds out again…
After about 3-5 days (keep rinsing 2-3x a day, everyday) you should be able to reep your harvest!
YUMMY Sprouts for your bagel and hummus, salad, sandwiches, or just to grab and much on!
You can keep them in your fridge for a few days when you are done sprouting…
Have you sprouted before? What are your favorite sprout seeds and ways to do it? Have a great day!
~Mae

Wow!! I would have never ever guessed how that’s done! So cool!
We just finished a jar of sprouts. Need to start another one. We do alfalfa a lot, but I know we’ve done others. What kinds of sprouts have you tried Mae?
I think we’ll do chia seeds next.
I need to get back to sprouting so I can make Nori Rolls. Thanks for the reminder of how easy it is. Now I just need to find the space to do it now that I don’t have a space for it.
You are the one who inspired me to start!
You’ll find a space, your just that awesome!
