Okay so being sick is the pits. But there is something you can learn from it and it has nothing to do with wearing your jacket when it’s cold out!
Our imperfect bodies get sick. Unfortunately, it’s one of those consequences of sin.
Oh… an interesting fact that I recently realized as I was re-reading Genesis. Did you know that God actually made Adam and Eve leave the garden of Eden so they couldn’t eat from the tree of life and live forever out of mercy?
He didn’t want them to have to suffer in sickness, pain, and heartache forever, so he made them leave until Jesus returns to take us home.
That’s nice because, as plush, as we can make our lives, we still have to deal with heartache, pain, grief, sickness… sin.
There is something God and our bodies want us to know about this whole sickness thing…
We need to stop, take a deep breath, relax and rely on God.
Sickness is a time of renewal and refreshment. It’s a time to pray, sleep, meditate in God’s love. It’s a time to strengthen ourselves in Him.
I’ve actually heard people say that cancer is a blessing. As it can bring families together, strengthen their faith in God, and I am sure the most positive of patients could tell you more about how it can be a blessing, even amongst the pain.
I myself have said eczema is a blessing, as my oldest daughter has struggled with it for her entire life and I can’t tell you how much healthier we have become because of it. We eat, live and thrive much differently than we did before we had her. My entire family is better because of God’s allowing us to view it as a blessing.
Sickness is a reality of sin. Attitude and the ability to strengthen ourselves in the Lord are a blessing found from following God, allowing him to work in our hearts and show us the blessings. When we accept a diagnosis we can work on attacking the flesh and the enemy with the only remedy that will prevail…
God’s love, God’s glory, God’s son!
So take time when you are sick to pray, read, relax and find blessings, answers and strength through God’s love.
