What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathic medicines are applied on the basis of the empiric law of similars. While German physician C. F. Samuel Hahnemann codified this principle in 1796 into a system of medicine that he called homeopathy, from the Greek, omoiou (like) and paqos (disease), the observation of this principle dates to Hippocrates (460-377 B.C.). Resolution of an illness occurs when the sick individual is given a small dose of a medicine capable of producing similar symptoms in a healthy prover. The medicine acts to return that person’s being to homeostasis.

Today I am just going to tell you how I use Homeopathy and how it has worked for my family. I am going to list products that I have used and tell you what my results were. I have a lot of these products in my “Mae Recommends Box” you can click on them to purchase them immediately. Most of these remedies can be found at any health food store as well.

The first time I started to believe in homeopathy is when my husband and I visited a “Classical” Homeopath. The Homeopath helped our middle kiddo find balance again after a horrific hail storm had frightened her very badly! The storm was very traumatic (our child was not harmed physically, it just terrified her). After the storm our kiddo would not sleep she was up somewhere around 3 to 8 times a night most nights of the week. The homeopath gave her a remedy to calm her soul, center her and find balance. We also worked with Marsha Podd, RN to fix the bad sleep habits that had gone on for months. I will definitely use the Classical Homeopath again if the need arrises. Once I had seen homeopathy work so well in my kiddo I decided to give some other remedies a try for other ailments.

My favorite brand of Homeopathy that you can buy in the store is Boiron. It is actually the only one I use at this point, unless I see the Homeopath. I want to preface this with the fact that I do not work Boiron, for a company that works with Boiron or sells Boiron. I am purely in love with this brand because it works so well! I also want you to know one VERY important fact about homeopathy. IT WILL ONLY WORK WONDERS IF YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!!! Homeopathy works on precise timing. I always take it with a timer!!! If you want to see results you need to make sure that you take the exact dose at the exact time. It usually starts out with 3-5 pills (which are VERY tiny, dissolve, and taste like sugar). Every remedy has it’s own timing so be sure to read directions carefully to get it right. It is also safe, it would be very hard to overdose on homeopathy. One of my other favorite things about homeopathy in general is that you can use it on infants and up! Now I will share with you the Boiron products that I love! I had seen Oscillo in a nutritional supplement store that I frequent. I decided to ask the owner what he thought about it. He said he knew it had been working well for over 40 years. He has seen many people use it and successfully kick a flu in the butt. So I bought it and kept it on hand in case of a flu. Sure enough last winter one of my daughters and I came down with a fever, chills and body aches one afternoon. As soon as we felt it we started taking Ocillo as directed. I also gave it to the rest of my family including our infant for prevention. Our flu was over in 24 hours and nobody else became infected. It was amazing! We just recently found out that we can take one vial once a week for immunity as well! So excited about this product!

My next favorite product is Cold Calm and Cold Calm for Children. When we take this at the first sign of feeling sick the cold is lessened in severity and length. Also when one person gets a cold everyone starts it. I love how well this works! If any of us get a cold it is very easily manageable with Cold Calm!

Sometimes an allergy or cold can flare up sinus pain and pressure. For this I use Sinusalia. I LOVE this product when I am in sinus pain and stuffiness. It works wonders!!! My mom told me about it when she was getting recurrent sinus infections. It worked so well for her! She uses that and a Neti Pot now if she has problems with sinuses.
