This room was one that I dreaded ALMOST as much as the kitchen. I just did not know what would come of it. It had to be done and done well because it is the second entry into the house, it is also the entry we use most often so it had to work for us. I LOVE looking at the before and afters. These “reveals” are the first that I see the before and after’s too so it’s fun to see how hard we worked and how much junk we got rid of! Be sure to see when you read this that there are titles on the pictures and some pictures will have a description below them. Enjoy!
Shoe bags stayed and I purged the shoes! The bin below the shoes has flip flops and crocs. The brown bin on top has outdoor winter clothes in it.The basket and bag on top hold my reusable shopping bags. The pink bag contains our kids swim bag and then there are a few other bags like diaper, library, gym bag hanging up. The drying racks have a perfect spot now and the brooms are in the garage now.
This is a great place for our ironing board. Out of the way hidden and easy to use!
Check out that “Luxury Monogram Bag” from Luxury Monograms hanging on the hooks on the right. Click here www.luxurymonograms.com to get your own!
Cleaned up that counter space! This place will eventually have a utility sink with small counter so I did not want to put anything there that I would have to find a place for later. I moved my herb pots in here and will do my seed sprouting in here this fall.

I did not realize until it was all organized that I did not get before pictures, it looked about like the counters above the washer and dryer, just a cluttery mess. This place is for cleaning supplies and my sprouting rack.
Note the laundry mess?! Since I do not spend hours being overwhelmed my the rest of my messy house (now that it is clean!) I have not seen piles of laundry like this for a long time. I am able to keep up with the laundry because the house is not crying for attention! This method really, REALLY works!!!
Ahhhh…. BLISS!!!
I can finally SEE the stains on the clothes to treat them! Thank you Mike!
Contains batteries, shoe polish, laundry items, cleaning, dusting and mop rags.
Lunch bag, table cloth, chocolate fountain, sprouting items, candles and aromatherapy items.
Mike replaced the light that was in there to one that shines BRIGHT so I can see the stains on my clothes that I had honestly been missing and just see in general. It does not feel like a dungeon anymore. I look forward to paint on the walls and the utility sink but till then I am still enjoying the tranquility of it all and it’s just a laundry room!
Yes there you have it a BLISSFUL laundry room that I just don’t mind doing laundry in and a main entry for the family that we enjoy coming home too! ~Mae

love it!! Great job and inspiration to the reast of us!
Love the makeover… how did you attach the irnoning board to the door???? I need one just like it!
Thank you. I found it at Target, it is made to fit right over the door!
Go check them out. I don’t think it was more then $15 – $20??
SO proud of you! This is AMAZING!
Ok, this gets me all “a twittered”. I didn’t get to do my zone 1 yet because Jovie got sick the day I had it all scheduled. We’ve had houseguests ever since. I’d feel weird doing a zone cleanup with guests. Ahhh! I want this clean house! I did get to do an out of order zone though. Our shower had a leak and we ended up having to take out part of the wall of our walk-in closet in order to get to the pipes to fix it. So, since I took everything out of the closet to avoid sheetrock dust etc. I went through everything. Maybe 1/3 of it went back in and it’s so nicely organized. We moved our shoe rack to the wall just outside the garage door and now our garage has stayed cleaner too! Laundry has been quicker and the closet hasn’t gotten messy at all yet! Woohoo! Now back to the regularly scheduled program.
I don’t think you realize how much I look forward to your HTCI reveals. Your house looks amazing. It really transforms into a tranquil place doesn’t it?
) Great job Mae!
Tara I want to see pics of this wire shoe rack, I still need an idea for our shoe’s in our garage, I have the shoes in the closet but we typically have 4-5 pairs in the garage. Send it to my email at strive4progress[@]gmail[dot]com and I will post it on the blog with your permission that is. Yes MUCH more peaceful and life is being lived not being cleaned up!
Love ya!
Also, where did you get that narrow light green laundry basket in front of your washer? I need one just like that for my laundry room.
Target!
What a transformation! I especially like the lights under your cupboards. I have the same problem with not being able to see the stains in my laundry area – great idea.
Thank you! Yes I will say that those lights are 75% of my stain remover! Before them I missed so many spots!
Thanks for stopping by!
