This is the start of a new category! The Homeschool category will mainly feature the activities that I am planning to do with my kids each month. Anytime I write about my homeschool you will find it in the Homeschool category.
I often find that sticking to a theme makes doing crafts and activities throughout the month easier. You will notice that most of my activity planners will have a theme and most of them will go along with a season or holiday. Personally my family probably will not get all of the activities done but at least I have some great ideas planned so as long as the time allows we will do them! I’m still trying to figure out how to make a downloadable copy of my activity calendar. In the mean time click the image above, it should open up a new page in your browser where you should be able to at least print it if you would like a hard copy. I will try to figure how to make a downloadable copy that has links in it. If any of you know how to do this please comment below and tell me! 🙂 I tried to get my Pinterest board to go in order of the events on my calendar. The books I suggest can be found at Amazon or try your public library! If you have any questions whatsoever just comment, email or facebook me! I will share the photos of our crafts at the end of the month. Enjoy!
The Pinterest board that has the links to the planner’s activities is called January. Click HERE to find it.
A Few Explanations…
This month we are going to learn about the great Snowy Owl. We start out with a story from Ukraine. It is a folk story told there about wild animals. From that we will start our snowy owl study.
We are still doing our regular curriculum, the owls are a unit study. You can read about what we use for our basic learning by clicking HERE. Below are some explanations of something found on the activity calendar. Most are things that are not on the Pinterest page.
Reading Day: This just means that we will spend a little extra time reading today instead of doing a project.
Real Snowflake: We are revisiting this craft because we all wanted to do it but didn’t get a chance last month.
Human Society Video: We are going to shoot a little video for our local friends on facebook. We are hoping to collect a few donations for the human society and we plan on making treats to take in. We wanted to do this last month but didn’t get time so we will try this month.
Draw An Owl: I will have my oldest draw and owl from looking at a picture of one. My two younger kiddos and I will use the link on Pinterest to make stick puppets with popsicle sticks.
Owl Cookie Treat: I am having a local bakery make us some yummy snowy owl looking cookies for a treat.
Research Owls Online: We will look up videos and websites that talk about the snowy owls.
Movie Night: I am going to search for a movie about owls, either documentary or fiction and we will watch that with popcorn and I might even make a pizza look like an owl. We shall see. 🙂
