What will you do with all that leftover candy corn laying around from Halloween?
Candy corn doesn’t have to be just a Halloween treat! Here are some cute ideas that you can use for Thanksgiving and use up your extra candy!
I am not a fan of eating candy corn, I am not much of a candy fan in general, but playing with candy sounds fun! I found most of these ideas on Pinterest. Please be sure to click on the links and find out where I found my inspiration. These are not my original ideas I just put my own twist on them. Have fun!
“Candy Corn” Pizza…
I was looking for some food to make that could represent a candy corn and how perfect is a pizza?! It is the right shape and has the right colors! YUM, it was really good too! In the tutorial below I show my favorite pizza crust recipe! No need to wait for it to rise!
Idea from www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com
My EASY & FAST pizza recipe comes from the book “1,001 Vegetarian Recipes” by R.D. Linda R. Yoakam
Ingredients:
1-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 package fast-rising yeast
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup very hot water (120 deg)
Natalie’s Directions (changed from original recipe):
With WISK attachment, combine flour, yeast, sugar, & salt in a bowl. Add VERY hot water, stirring until in small dry clumps. (See 3rd picture down, above)
Take wisk off, add dough hook. Knead on med-low speed until smooth & elastic (2-3 minutes). Cover dough with the bowl and let stand for 15 minutes (OPTIONAL). I just toss my dough ball on the pizza stone, roll it out and form the crust, then turn the oven on. I let it rise for 5-10 mins while the oven heats up.
Bake 7-10 mins (till light brown) add toppings and cook 5-10 minutes (till cheese is melted) at 425 degrees.

Candy Corn “Corn”…
This popcorn is positively ADDICTING! I ate way too much, YUMMY! This is really simple. You can certainly make the popcorn by using the microwave kind but I enjoy the flavor by just cooking mine on the stove. You can find the way I make my popcorn here at www.thekitchn.com.

I made this in three batches using 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels on the stove. Pop the corn using a method of choice, pour popcorn in large bowl. Rinse pan out then wipe dry, add hot water to the pan, place double boiler on top, empty 12 oz baking chips into the boiler, stir continuously until melted and smooth. Pour melted chips onto popcorn, stir popcorn. Place popcorn onto a baking sheet that is lined with wax or parchment paper. Stick in freezer 10-15 mins while you make your next batch.
NOTE: melt lightest color baking chips first so colors mixing will not be an issue. Take double boiler off the stove, drain water, wipe the pan out and start over with the next batch of popcorn. When the second batch is all mixed up with the melted chips go take the first batch out of the freezer. Gently crumble the popcorn into a gallon size baggie or bowl, reuse the parchment paper for the second batch of popcorn. Do the whole process once more time. Once ready layer the popcorn into jars in the color of a candy corn: yellow, orange, white. Add the lid and give out to family, friends, and neighbors thanking them for being who they are. 🙂

Candy Corn Trinity…
Here is a neat way to add a spiritual thought to the brightly colored treat! Oriental Trading has a kit you can buy with foam pieces but I thought I would just put it together with construction paper. We also used little foam leaves as a decoration. I wrote on the two youngest kids and had my oldest write her saying out. Links for the printable templates for this craft are at the bottom of this post.
I found this idea from www.orientaltrading.com!
What you need:
A ruler if you are making your own templates or print out the templates from this page. Purple, white, orange and yellow construction paper, a glue stick, scissors, yarn, a pen and a hole punch.
Words to write:
On the white: As there are three colors in the candy corn I see;
On the orange: There are three persons in the Holy Trinity. God our loving Father, Jesus the son, and our helper the Holy Spirit.
On the Yellow: All Three are God yet together they are one.
Directions:
Cut out the purple candy corn shape. Cut out the yellow, orange and white colors (making sure if you do not use the template that these are smaller than the purple so the purple acts like a frame). NOTE: When cutting the yellow is the biggest piece, orange the middle and white the smallest. Glue the pieces on starting with yellow on the bottom, orange in the middle and white on top. While the glue dries to make a hole punch at the very top of the candy corn (leave room for writing), string and tie a knot. Write the verse on the colors. Add a sticker for an ornament. It’s done, hang it for all to see!

Thanksgiving Day Centerpiece…
Take some candy corn fill a small vase, make some “flowers” and you have a very pretty table centerpiece for Thanksgiving! Links for the printable templates for this craft are at the bottom of this post. For the flowers, I placed the template onto construction paper, had the kids color on top of it and then cut out the shape. We then glued the flower shape to a stick, they decorated it with glue and glitter. Once the flowers were dry I carefully stuck them in the candy corn. Now we have a pretty Thanksgiving decoration! Make a few of these and place them around your Thanksgiving day table!

Indian “Corn” & Pumpkin Patch…
A fun way to make the candy corn look like corn! I used oak tree leaves for the tops. We had all the little pumpkins from our bag of candy corn left so the kids glued drew scribbles for vines then glued the pumpkins to the paper and called it a pumpkin patch for their miniature dolls to play in. So cute! We had fun with this! Links for the printable templates for this craft are at the bottom of this post.
