What is the first thing you think of when you hear “home cooked meal”?
Do you see your family sitting around the table, cozy and delighted to be there. The warm food sends delicious smelling steam swirls into the air. Your family is happy, you’re relaxed and the food tastes amazing. Hubby comments on how wonderful dinner is and the kids are happy and eating!
Why did I bold and italic “you’re relaxed” above? Because it doesn’t matter what you made, it doesn’t matter if you created dinner from scratch or a box. The fact that YOU are relaxed is why dinner was so amazing.
How often does that happen in your home? Are you usually feeling hurried and frazzled at dinner time or prepped and ready?
My life changed when I finally figured out meal planning. Who knew that meal planning would change your life? But it’s the simple things like meal planning that really do add up to HUGE rewards.
You do not have to be a 5 star chef to have a happy well fed family. Humans need oxygen, water, food, shelter, and sleep. Why does the family panic at 5:00 pm if mom or dad is not in the kitchen cooking food? Because our need to be fed is number three on the list of basic human needs. We NEED to eat!
Comfort isn’t what we find on the table, it is found in the actual presence of a meal on the table. When our need to eat is met we relax.
This is why one of my first suggestions to the moms I work with is to start a meal plan. You can relax when you have a meal plan. There is never a big panic about what’s for dinner when you have a plan and the food in your house to make it!
